Farid Al-Ali
Director of the Kuwait Center for Islamic Arts and former Secretary of the Kuwaiti Society for Formative Arts

Born in Kuwait in 1957, Farid A. Al-Ali is Director of the Kuwait Center for Islamic Arts and former Secretary of the Kuwaiti Society for Formative Arts. He has represented Kuwait in more than 60 art exhibitions worldwide, and has held 21 solo exhibitions of his work. In 2003, Al-Ali won the International Prize of Quran in the 11th Gathering for the Holy Quran in Tehran.

Al-Ali has designed inscriptions for mosques in Kuwait, Egypt, Iran, India, and China, as well as Kufi script for the facades of several public and academic buildings. He is the author of two books on the subject of calligraphy, and received a certificate of appreciation from His Highness the Crown Prince of Kuwait for his contributions to Kuwaiti calligraphy.
