His Excellency Omar Saif Ghobash was appointed Assistant Minister for Cultural Affairs at the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in October 2019.
He was appointed Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to France on November 24, 2017 and Ambassador to the Russian Federation in 2008.
He began his career in the UAE Mission to the United Nations and founded Dubai’s first international contemporary art gallery, is a trustee of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction, and sponsors the Saif Ghobash Banipal Prize for Arabic Literary Translation in memory of his father, the UAE’s first Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. He is a trustee at the International Centre for the Study of Radicalization and Political Violence at King’s College London and the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy in Abu Dhabi.
